Subject: SIN Card after landing
On conversion of status of a temporary resident to permanent resident, one has to apply for a SIN replacement. I understand a new SIN is assigned, that neither begins with a number ´9´ nor has an expiry date.
My questions:
1. Does the history associated with the previous SIN carry forward to the new number eg. tax information
2. Is it mandatory to advise all financial institutions of the new SIN
There is nothing to this effect on the CCRA website, so this forum views are appreciated.
