1) you can inquire about opportunities but a Work Permit must be obtained from outside the country

2) work permits are issued for jobs where it has been demonstrated that there is nobody already inside Canada that can do the job. It is not as easy as it sounds

3)you can send your documents if you choose but it must go to the country where you have legal status for at least one year - I am presuming that would need to be Mexico.

timelines for Mexico are quite good compared to other countries.

Means there is only one way for me to apply for immigration visa from mexico.
What do you say about NAFTA ,is there any diffrence between other national´s countries and NAFTA partners countries. What benifits i can obtain under this agreement ?
Is it impossible to apply for skilled visa programme while i am on visit?

I am a dumbo about all the rules around NAFTA. sorry. I know there are special agreements but what they are exactly and how they work - I have no idea. I would love to find out!

Que tal paisano,
Using NAFTA to obtain a permit means that you must get a job offer with a job title that matches one of the professions included in NAFTA, I can´t remember if engineering is in it, I think it is.
The advantage is that all you need is the job offer from the employer stating job title, intended duration of employment, wage and of course your name on it, I think thats about it.

As per visa offices, I would go for Mexico City, I applied there myself in May 2006, and we are done with the medicals already.

Good luck.

Jose,

You CAN NOT apply from within Canada in your case. You must leave Canada, apply from Mexico either for a Work permit or Permanent residence. You may look for a job and then your employer has to follow all the steps to hire you and once the employer is done with its part, you have to apply for Immigration outside of Canada.

Hi Jose (tocallo)
If you intend to live in Canada permanently NAFTA won´t be of too much use, you better apply as SW at Mexico. NAFTA is for temporary persons and need a job offer also.
Applying as SW from Mexico took me 14 months, and you might need around 6 months more to get a job. If you are an engineer, you have to be licensed before you can practice engineering in Canada, your are not even alowed to say you are an engineer.
Any question please post.
