Subject: What comes first? Work Permit or Immigration Appl
I´m an IT professional and I´ve been interviewed remotely by a Canadia Company that´s interested in bringing me to Canada. They´ve asked me to explore the options for either bringing me through a Visa/Immigration/Work Permit programs.

I have been through to CIC website, and it seems that there are two routes:
- Either apply for immigration, and in the documentation notify CIC that there´s a company that´s interested in hiring me.
- Or apply for a work permit, then while in Canada, apply for immigration using the work permit status.

In either cases there seems to be some work required to be done by my Employer through "Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC)".

What should I do? which way should I go?

Appreciate your help.

WRONG there is three main options and many IT positions do not have to meet HRSDC approval.

1. If your on the list find an employer on line with or without assistance and apply for your work permit cost $150.00!

2. Apply now as a Federal Skilled Worker and wait, and wait depending on your visa post processing times.

3. Find an employer with or without assistance in any province other then Ontario and apply as a PNP Skilled worker processing times 8 months----or a combination of one and three!

You can read about it on my site at www.cvimmigration.com or go to the government site www.cic.gc.ca click on the left side TO IMMIGRATE THEN PROVINCIAL NOMINEE then any province other then Ontario.

THIS IS IMPORTANT--understand that once landed you can move where ever you want and work for whom ever you want. That income will be less in certain provinces. You have to compare that to cost of living and you can do that by checking out housing prices go to www.mls.ca

Any applicant has to be crimminally and medically admissable to Canada so apply now for proof of no convictions for all countries you have lived in for six months or more since the age of eighteen.

CONGRADULATIONS FOR FINDING THIS SITE --It is by far the best.

Unsettled: Legal and Policy Barriers for Newcomers to Canada (PDF; 490 KB

?Immigration has been a key component in the development of Canadian economic, social, and political fabric. Today, Canada is increasingly reliant on immigration for population and labour market growth. As such, it is imperative to ensure that newcomers are able to utilize the skills and resources they bring with them ? for economic gain, for humanitarian reasons, and to continue enriching Canadian culture and society. The difficulties newcomers face as part of their settlement experience must be recognized as Canadian problems rather than as ?immigrant problems;? and they must be addressed and eliminated to the greatest extent possible.?

NOW THIS IS WORTH READING AND COMMENTING ON. BUT THEN AGAIN, THIS STUDY IS SOMETHING THAT IMMIGRATION LAWYERS AND CONSULTANTS HATE BECAUSE IT REDUCES THEIR NUMBER OF CLIENTS.

Should you listen to:
A: Immigration consultant/lawyer who makes money if you apply to come to Canada

or

B: Major Canadian newspaper [Globe and Mail] reporting on a study conducted by Canada that shows even highly educated immigrants many times can´t get a job in Canada

?????

Canada is undermining the integration of immigrants and contributing to their social isolation despite the fact that the country relies on immigration for population and labour market growth, says a new report obtained by The Globe and Mail.

Don´t become yet another victim of the Canadian immigration con-game. Unless of course, you have money you´d like to throw away.

I´d say the fastest way is to get a work permit and apply for a skilled worker PR after you get into Canada and get settled into your new job.

Watch out for some of the people on this forum...it takes a lot or reading to get enough information to make an informed decision on here. Good luck.

Most of the people on this forum are immigration consultants, who LIE LIE LIE LIE LIE in order to make money off of innocent people from far away countries....and when those people arrive....more than half of them live in poverty in Canada with no job, or maybe low paying jobs the rest of their lives.

I´ve talked to several AMERICANS who speak English as their first language and have BA and even MA degrees, and yet the Canadian employers wouldn´t hire them.

Not Canadian = no job. Stop insulting people for whom your advice has damaged their livlihood.

You know damn well that over half immigrants to Canada go home because of no job.

Someday you will be homeless and jobless in Canada.

Why are there plenty of jobs in USA? Why do so many Canadian immigrants eventually migrate to USA?
