| Subject: passport expiring |
Hi guys! We received our immigrant visa 4 days ago.We had medical May 2006 but the visa given was only till Feb 26,2007 coz my husband´s passport is expiring same time. My question is, can we do our landing with new passport attached to the old one where the visa was stamp.

i am no expert but i am guessing regardless u get a passport or not, he should land before feb 26. call cic to find out for sure.

There is nothing to worry abput, In the first place, you have to enter Canada before Feb 26 which means your husband´s passport will still be valid...
If you later want to leave Canada then you can apply for a new passport in Canada from your embassy. I guess by that time you will have got your PR card so there will be no problems leaving and entering Canada.

Thanks for the reply guys but my concern is, i was told by one travel agent here in Dubai, U.A.E. that he´s passport should be valid not less than 6 month to travel.What if he applied for a new passport and travel with that but present to the immigration officer the old one with the visa stamped will they gonn accept it coz the detail on the landing paper is different.

First I not sure of the six moths validity for the passport .. consulate usually ask for passport validity on visa stamping.. Please confirm from local Canadian consulate on travel requirements.. not any travel agent...
Even if that is the case. He can get his passport renewed..
On issuing a new passport officer (counselor in case renewed outside home country) will cancel the old passport but not any valid visa on the old passport.. Keeping both old & new passport together he should be able to travel....
