| Subject: Question for immigrating SW U.S. citizens |

Hello soon-to-be American expats-
Wondering why Canada over U.S.? Have you seen housing prices and salary surveys there? Compared to U.S., housing is more expensive (I think), higher taxes makes everything more expensive, and salaries are a bit lower for comparable skills. So there must be something driving us other than pure economics.
The only reasons I can think of for us doing this are:
a) social benefits (national healthcare, etc.)
b) family in Canada
c) beautiful environment
d) low crime
e) disagreeable political situation in U.S.
Could be some or all of above. Any thoughts?

There should be an F) there, which applies to everyone above (even though they dont admit it):
F) Because getting Canadian PR is easier than getting a green card in US. Furthermore, you don´t want to go back to your home country where the people are mean & poor.
B, C, D, E are just excuses !!!

The only reason is "Economic". Wherever you get a good job, or chance to study further, that is the best place - US or Canada, both are equal in all reasons.

billy got it right. Most third world people are driven by dollars without sense. You tell em there is a pile of dollars in Timbaktu and they will ask you how to get there! These days you don´t see many from Taiwan and singapore heading this way.
