Subject: what happens if i decide not to land |
I wanted to find out whether anyone knew what happens in a situation where, let´s say, I´ve been approved but decided not to go/live to/in Canada. I mean, are there any financial or any other kid of penalties? (for changing my mind the very last minute:-)

(in reply to: what happens if i decide not to land) it would be very nice if you let CIC know. It might allow one more person get their PR that is waiting in line.
You have a set time to land. Once that time has passed, your PR is cancelled and you must re-apply. From what I understand there is not penalty other than losing your opportunity.

(in reply to: what happens if i decide not to land) CIC will ask that you return your COPR, and your visa will then be cancelled. Advise is to land and then return. That way you´ll always have the option. Otherwise if you change your mind you must apply all over again.

(in reply to: what happens if i decide not to land) You won´t get any fine or penalties... just will lose your Processing fee and Right of Permanent Resident Fund. You can´t get your Right of Permanent Resident Fund refund after the decision has been made.

(in reply to: what happens if i decide not to land) Ops sorry, I mean Right of Permanent Resident Fee. It was the CDN$975(before May 3 2006) and CDN$490 (After May 3 2006).
And I just checked again, you are entitled of the full refund of that if you decided not to become Permanent Resident.
