Subject: Photographs
  Hello,

The photographs requirements for Canadian immigration has become the bottleneck for my application process due to its specifications.

I enquired with Walmart, walgreen, Target, K Mart and also professional photographers...almost everywhere. One photographer fulfilled the size requirement, BUT can provide ONLY two identical snaps per applicant since he uses a polaroid film. But the application requires four per candidate and each photo needs to be identical.

My question is : Can I take the US passport size snaps and cut them to Canadian immigration requirements as long as background colour and height of face and width of face requirements is met? Will there be any problem in doing so? Has someone adopted such a measure before?

Please provide me some inputs.

Since you are in USA, try to locate shops where they do special visa photos etc. They do make it your specifications.

Try looking for a MBE local shop in your area www.mbe.com.
They usually do the photographs required as per Canadian photo specifications.

The second option is try a local Wolfcamera shop. They too do these snaps.

If you are in USA, the third option is the local post office in your area. The small post offices dont do it but yes the bigger ones ( like ones in downtown areas )will do it for you.

Make sure you carry the specification paper with you. Some of them dont have it.

My photographer easily did it with a digital camera. A real photographer works with digitals not a polaroid. Find a portrait photographer, or maybe a commercial one. As I remember the photo requirements for immigration are quite specific and different from passport photos. Good luck.

Check out the university areas. I had exactly the same problem and finally located many small photographers who will do this just the required way near the university.

I tried university areas, photogrpager does not use a digital camera and hence cannot provide 4 identical copies

Visited Mail Box etc store- they have not heard of anything other than US passport size pictures

Finally, I tried my own method for which I had asked feedback if someone had done it before. I went ofr US passport size pictures and then cut them to required size.

Thanks folks for all suggestions
