I´ve read that the undertaking (financial support) obligations for a spouse can be waived under certain circumstances (from the regs, it has to be the only person you´re sponsoring, and can have no dependant children). My wife is a Canadian citizen, and therefore our 2 children are as well, though they were both born in the States. I´m American and would like to immigrate to Canada. I´m the bread winner in our family, and would qualify for the skilled worker category, but we´ve been led to believe that the family sponsor would be much quicker.
Is it possible for this exemption to apply to our family considering we have the 2 (Canadian) children? Do we just leave blank the applicable areas on the forms and let the immigration agents figure it out, or should we reference the Refugee and Immigration Regs at an appropriate place?

Income is not an issue when sponsoring a spouse or a dependent child read on.

Out of curiosity, why is that so many yanks are heading North? I thought only in Mexico el Norte was a famous destination!

Roy, thanks for the post. I´ve read it again, and I understand it now. Personally we hope to head north to escape the AC and get outdoors more. My wife and I are from ONT and MI, so Hotlanta´s not cutting it for us.
