Subject: What happens if....
Hi all! I have a question.

I applied for the Skilled Worker visa like 10 months ago and haven?t received any response.

However, I`ve just receved confirmation that my wife is pregnant!

I don?t know what to do. Obviously I would like to arrive to Canada before the child is born.

Does anyone know what should I do?

Thanks! :)

you can do one thing ,you just inform to CIC that your wife is pregnent, and they will hold ur file until your baby borns.so they can process as a whole.

James, my gosh...they do not "HOLD" the file. Processing contunues as usual. Please..... Tom Davis,no need to inform CIC of a baby that was just conceived. Wait till baby is almost born , then start to gather info needed to add baby to application. Thats all. Hopefully things will speed up so that you get PR before baby is born, if not, just follow procedure to add baby and inform CIC of change in family status (after baby is born). Till then, nothing to do.

Congratulations Tom....

IDO is almost right and James is crazy.

There is a very high probability that you will not get PR before the birth of your baby, assuming that you haven´t even got the AOR.
I would suggest you wait till you are physically holding the baby in your arms (congratulations once again !!) then add the baby to the application, and you should be good.

Only other complication is that you get PPR say during 7th or 8th month of pregnancy.... if that happens I suggest you land as soon as possible and deliver baby in Canada if possible (OR) come back after landing to wherever you are and then you will have to sponsor the child as you will be PR´s of Canada.

I´m sure other fellow applicants may have better suggestions.

Raj, thanks so much! :)
I really dont know what an AOR is. I applied and they asked for more documents, then I sent those documents and haven?t heard anything else from the Embassy.
What is the next step? The medical examinations? I think that my wife will not be able to do them pregnant, right?
Thanks!

Ok, if they have asked you for additional documents then you might have received the AOR and/or IA. AOR = Receipt of application. IA = Initial assesment.
So, its possible you get your PPR soon, hey, don´t worry, if you get it land before pregnancy, else do the sponsor thingy.

Yes, make sure you mention your wife is pregnant during you medicals, I think you are not supposed to do X-Ray and stuff.

Good Luck.
