Subject: Failed IELTS:
Does anyone who had asked to take IELTS and got less than 7 overall? My case is I must obtain 7 to pass 67 points, but since I only got 6.5 on IELTS which also means my point is below 67 points. Will they reject my application?

unfortunately, language is the biggest factor in determining Canadian integration. I doubt that CIC would accept your application under those circumstances.

I would recommend that you do some studying and retake your IELTS to see if you can improve your score.

To be honest - it is in your best interest.

If you score is below 67, then you won´t be accepted. but if you score more than 67 even if your language is not perfect, you´ll get it.

I do not know how many total points I got, but I too had 6.5 in ielts. I go IA in Apr with interview waiver.
To my knowledge, if someone is nearer to reach 67 points, CIC will call for interview. The officer may add grace points based on how interview goes.

that is the critical point - you had 67 points. While you wait for your PR request, I would strongly encourage you to work hard on your english skills (even though you have your PR waived) It will make your settlement in Canada easier and more successful.

Sharon, I have been successfully working in US for almost 7 years. I beleive, IELTS result is not true indicative of measuring the language ability. I responded to Jeff to tell him what happened in my case so that he does not loose his hope. If you have any suggestions for me on improving English, fine.
You do not need to strongly encourage that as I do not strongly believe the IELTS.

as you like.

unfortunately, IELTS is all that counts with CIC so he needs to find a way to improve his score.

Jeff , which country are u from ? If possible , provide documents or letters from school , ex-employers who know u well and can prove that u can communicate in English , this might help .

Send the Docs before they call u for an interview ASAP

I agree with Sharon, most of the immigration officers will play by the rules and simply reject the application if it does not muster 67 points. I will recommend that you take the test again. On the other hand I was excalty in the same situation as yours and needed 7 points in all the four banks to get to 67 mark; fortunately I got it.
