Hey guys I need some real assistance !!!
My work permit and passport expired on the 5th of June 2006 - why did it expire - as dumb as it sounds - I just forgot to get both of these items renewed ?
I was working on a work permit and I am eligible for 2 years of the work permit but I was just allocated days till the date my passport expires ( so technically I am still eligible for one more year of work) on a work permit
Needless to say - I am scared out of my mind !!!
what comes next ? I will go and try to get my Passport renewed in the Indian Embassy tommorow and I am not sure if they will renew it ( anyone ever been in the same situation?)
After that where do I go and get my work permit renewed in case of emergency - I am living in Kitchener - do I need to apply for restoration of status ? where do I apply and where can I contact to find out some more information - i have downloaded the necessary forms and will be going through those tonight

just wanted to add that this was post graduate work permit which I was working on - I have an engineering degree from canada

Hi LM,
One of my friends got his passport renewed at Indian embassy in Toronto, last year. Though he still had 6 months left on his passport.
Not sure about your case as your passport is already expired. But it´s never too late to do the right thing. Contact Indian embassy right now. They should be able to help you out.

Don´t know about Canada but in the US Indian Consulate, you can have your passport renewed for upto one year after expiry. I expect that the rules should be common across all the Indian Consultes.

The Indian Consulate in Toronto is just south of Davisville but be sure to get there well before they open. They are very slow and I truly wish you luck because from experience of my clients you will need it.
Once you get that rectified your application will have to go into TORONTO CENTRAL CIC but you will be given implied status until a decision is made.

Yes, the will renew the passport; if it is withing 30-60 days (guess) within the expiration date. Do it asap.

you´ll have to apply for restoration of status, as well as apply for new work permit, etc.
check CIC website for details

I had exams and totally forgot about my expiration on my visa and the 90 days have expired I dont know what to do and I have classes in september and I have appied for a spousal application
what do I do
