Subject: How long do I have to move? |
I am in the process of applying from the US to the Buffalo office---
1. Once I receive IA, how long until my passport is requested?
2. Can I move before receiving my Permanent Resident Card?
3. How much time do I have to move after I receive my Permanent Resident card before it expires?

(in reply to: How long do I have to move?) 1. Not sure.
2. You can move after receiving your landing papers. PR card comes later, after landing.
3. Usually you have 1 year from the date of your medicals to land. PR card is valid for 5 years from the date you land.
Moving date is up to you and may not necessarily be the same as landing date. Don´t confuse the two. What´s important is "landing" and "residing" in Canada for all your questions. Read the CIC website especially under FAQ, where all this is outlined.

(in reply to: How long do I have to move?) Richard, I´d really appreciate if you could post the URL of the FAQ you mentioned... I couldn´t find any section regarding FAQ on the CIC website.
Thanks for helping...
