Subject: criminal charges
  iam a visa student in canada,unfortunately i got charged with the possession of fake currency ,iam completely innocent ,and iam 100% positive that i will win the case ,have got one of the best laywer working on it ,but my major area of concern is my soon expiring study permit ,since my visa is expiring 6 months before my actual trial date in court ,i have no idea how i can extend my stay in canada ,and wait for the verdict on my case.
i doubt if i apply for my extension of study permit ,it would be granted or if there is any other way to extend my stay???

kindly advice me on this matter ,i would be greatly indebted by ur wisdom.

you ar einccoent untill proven guilty.
you may indicate that there were charges made against you but no verdict was rendered and you stand trial.
the visa officer should not make judgment against you as it is illegal. talk to your lawyer!

Well you better find a way to stay here legally and clear your name, if you think you have enough evidence to clear your name. If you leave before court date, the judgement may default to guilty and the charge may stand... making problems when and if you plan to return to Canada. While it is not possible to guess the outcome of extension request, it might help to file such request through an immigration attorney.
