Subject: Foreign Police Certificate wait
The darned foreign police certificate we need could take up to 3 months, according to the foreign consulate in question. Since CIC apparently expects these things to be done within 90 days, is it possible to get extenuating circumnstances? How to inform the Canadian consulate - send email and explain?

Make sure that the finger print results are mailed within the foreign country. Most governments will not pay for international mailing.

Also contact the country authorities direct there is normally an expedited process depending on the country.

The country in question didn´t ask for fingerprints (as the FBI does). They just wanted the person´s name and last place of registration of residence when living in that country. We are contacting the foreign consulate to ask for expedited service, so thanks for that suggestion.

just email cic, explain the reason for the delay and ask for an extension. I did the same and it was fine.
