Subject: TO DO OR NOT TO DO IS THE QUESTION!!
OK folks, I plan to take the plunge and apply for immigration to Canada. But I have a dilemma.

I have 2 different agents. One is going to charge the full fee and stay till the end. The other too will go the whole hog for the full fee, or charge less than half to just assist u for the sunmission process. Then if need be, in the future, u can take the services of the same person, at an additional cost. The cost is definitely lower (less than half)

What do u suggest I do? I mean would I need an agent to be there till the end. is it better that way? Or is it essential just at the submission where they would know how to best out ur case across?

Sorry to load this on u, but I am stuck, and really dunno which way to go. Ur suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks

all either consultant is going to do is make sure you have supplied all the items listed in the immigration checklist and then check it to make sure you have completed all documents in full.

they will then provide a mailing address for CIC.

In reality they are not offering you anything that you cannot provide yourself if you can read french or english easily.

If your points (by your calculations) are clear - pay yourself! Take a few extra days to fill it out, put it away for 2 days - go back read it again. ask a friend to read it for errors and ommissions (if a question is not relevant to you - put N/A) every application has a guide you can download on the internet.

there are even manuals you can read online that tell you exactly what the immigration officer is looking for.

Save your money for Canada... do it yourself.

If you have any questions, you can always ask us and we´ll try and help.

There´s no point paying a consultant to do everything if you think you have a clear-cut case. It´s easy to do it yourself.

Samina,

Sorry, but by looking at your English I have the impression that you intend to start a discussion about some lawyers and going to recommend some lawyers under another hidden nick and you expect us to buy it ...

Hope this is not so, ....anyway with your perfect English and writing style and smart ass what makes you feel that you need a lawyer?

Lawyers are only for people who cannot solve a difficult issue on their own or to defend themselves at the court ... There are thousands of people who apply for immigration on their own and get it.... There is nothing ´unclear´ in the Cic offical site and every person with some brain will get it ...

To all guys here including you .. USE YOUR OWN BRAIN.... there is nothing a lawyer does extra... or a lawyer is not a MAGICIAN... .. DO NOT PAY TO ANY LAWYERS ..... DO NOT LET YOURSELVES BE MILKED ...

Good luck..

Well I thought this site was getting help from people who are going thru a similar situation, or who have been thru a situation like urs. Didn´t need to get bombarded by vulgar comments, and mean stuff. I genuinely had a question, and I asked it. Sorry to disappoint most of u, but I am NOT a lawyer. I am a well-educated housewife, who is doing a bit of research, before she heads out and starts the lengthy immigration process.

Yes I have seen the CIC site, yes I have downloaded all the forms, yes I have the guides, but even then, there are several things which are not clear. Does one need to notarize the copies of ones transcripts and degree, how does one procure a police clearance if one doesn´t reside in the country of citizenship, and so many more. The process is in itself an expensive one, and I don´t want to miss out on something. And most of the people I know, have all used an agent to get the process done. So I can´t ask them these things. I know several of u have done the process urself, so was hoping for ur valuable comments.

Anyway, I thought this site was for people who needed help, and people who were doing a wonderful job of providing it. I am sorry to say, but I was mistaken.

Good bye.

not several of us. almost all of us read, completed the application forms, sent and went through the application process without a lawyer.
the lawyer won´t help you apply for a police certificate. you can search online and find out everything. you can ask here and if you have pertinent questions you´ll get answers. and in the worse case scenario, if you don´t knoe what to do (e.g. notarize or not some documents) go the extra mile (notarize) and you´ll be OK. even if you do it without having to do it you´ll spend way less than paying thousands of $ to some lazy lawyer.
