Subject: US greencard and Canadian PR
  Hi All,
I need any advice I can get. One day before my US immigrant visa interview, I received the Canadian PR approval letter requesting me to pay the landing fees. I filed my application back in 2002.

My US immigrant visa is approved, what should I do with the Canadian PR approved application? Should I continue to process the Canadian PR application?

Thank

J

if US is your first choice, please be kind to those genuinely wanting to make Canada their home by leaving your spot to someone else.

taking a spot and not using it hurts everyone. It hurts Canada because we do not get the skill we think we are getting, and there is someone ready willing and able to take that spot but the quota has been given to someone else.

I understand people wanting to hedge their bets on the future but hopefully when the options are finally available, there is a little bit of social conscience left at the end to do what is honourable for everyone around you.

Sharon,
amen to "taking the space" thing.

However, keeping aside the whatever intention the government has/had considering the "skill" of highly educated immigrants, I do not think any body in Canada will be hurt because "they are not getting the skill they think were getting". I think Canada is so overwhelmed with these "overskilled" immigrants, it only benefits them who are already here if such skilled work force stop pouring from abroad.

Even if Canada stopped getting skilled immigrants, Will it increase the employment prospects of those who are already here? Hell no! You will have to live in Canada to appreciate the subtle discrimination that will ostracize the majority of newly arrived immigrants from the government, bussiness and academia. It is there, FACE IT
