Guys,
Today I officially landed (PPs back on Apr 25). Here is my story!
My friend had some work in B.C. So he drove us from Calgary(me and my wife) to Kingsgate Port of Entry (about 50 Miles from Cranbrook on Highway 95 towards Idaho state, USA border). We reached there at 9 am (PST) and directy went to Immigration. It was not crowded, infact we two were there for landing! Officer took our PPs and went inside and came back after about 40 mins. No crossing of border (no visit to USA side, no refusal receipt, absolutely nothing!!) He did not ask even about any docs except Landing papers and PPs...no funds proof, no pictures, nothing!!And we were all done in about 45 mins!
But the wierd thing, he told us that we can not travel oversease for at least 6 months! I asked him why it was like that. He said u will get your PR card in 4 to 6 months!! But I dont believe him.
This is it!! Best luck for those who are close to their PR and who are in process! I hope this helps!

Hey sandeep,
Congratulations!!!. I need to know something, I am in US and I am giling Canada Immigration as a Backup. So if everything goes fine and I get the PR in 3 years then do I and all my dependents have to goto Canada and be there for 6 months. Is it a rule?
Is it not possible that main applicant goes there, stay there for some time and come back to US and continue working here. (Because as far as i know we have to stay there for min. 3 years in 5 years)
please let me know on this.

Sounds strange you didn´t cross the border though.

You can land and go back to US and ur family can stay here back. I think now a days you have to be physically present in canada for 2 out of 5 years.(it might be 3/5..i really dont know).

officer is an idiot! you can send him thi smessgae
PR card is 4 to 6 weeks.
you can travel out but cannot enetr back without PR card. so if u travel have someone send them to you.

Thanks a lot Sandeep.
I just had one query that is it possible for me to apply only for myself. And then I will include my wife in the application. I just do not want to take risk of spending 1000$ at once.
Please let me know if its possible.
