Subject: We got PPR finally. Several questions.
Finally, we got PPR after almost 2.5 years of waiting. Fascinating, but strange feelings - I started to believe this day will never come. It does ?eventually? (citing my supervisor). 

Our timeline: (SW, husband (PI) and wife, students, Buffalo)
Applied - Oct. 2003
AOR - Nov. 2003
IA - Aug.2004
Meds, proof of funds, RPRF - Sept. 2004
Additional docs. - Oct. 2004
PPR - March 2006 (the latter requires sent the photos and passports, nothing is said about medicals, which actually expired a half of year ago)

We are in Quebec, but applied trough Federal Immigration Program, consequently there are certain problems with landing: we have to cross the border anywhere but Quebec and as we planed to reside in Ontario (in our application form), we have been told that we have to give the residential address in Ontario, where the PR cards will be sent after landing.
So, if any of you have experience in this matter, please suggest what is a best strategy? Can we give a Quebec address or that is impossible? Which papers should we bring with us for landing?

Thank you everybody from this forum for support, help (especially Kool), and entertainment. 

Hi Hell:

Congratulations! I was waiting to hear this Good News from you for long time. I do not visit this forum quite frequently these days, but fortunately I found your post today.

Do not worry about the medicals. It´s extended.

I do not have any idea about Quebec stuff. I hope somebody would respond to your question.

I´m done with my studies and moving to a different city tomorrow to start my new job.

Congrats once again - Enjoy your moment.

Cheers!!!

Thank you guys,

Why does it take so long? Actually, I did not think it can possibly take so long, most of our friends got everything in less then 20 months. Probably the backgroung checking takes different time for different people, and may be it depends on cooperativity of the departments, where the information is requested (of the naitive country may be??????, difficult to say). Our e-mail request answers always were: "We have requested background information from other government offices(s). Unfortunately, we cannot respond to requests for the status of your application before this information is received."

Our interview was waived. We did not hear from CIC since Oct 2004, when they requested "the additional docs" (strangely, it that was the copy of the initial form for my husband (PI), which we submit on the first stage). Even though our medicals were M01 (pefrect), acknowledged in CAIPS (starting from May 2005, the first time we ordered the CAIPS), it did not appear in e-CAS untill the day we recieved PPR. We were never engaged in any criminal or military organizations, my husband got his second PhD recently, I´m doing mine.
May be we´ll get some more details from our CAIPS notes, which we ordered a month ago, I´ll let you know for sure.
Good luck
