I can see in various places that my wife can have an Open Work Permit for the duration of my study permit but I cannot see where and when this should be applied for.
In one place you are referred to extending or changing your status, but again there is no mention of an open work permit.
The forms for applying for a work permit from outside canada all require HRDC approvals, the London office website refers to completely the wrong form.
Any help greatly appreciated.

I don´t remember exactly what we did when we applied for my wife´s study permit initially except that I was asked if I wanted to work while my wife is in school.
Recently, I applied for a work permit myself. I simply included my wife in my application for a work permit and also included a declaration from her of her intention to work. I would probably do the latter if I were you. If there is any way you can confirm that with the embassy/consulate, please do.
