Subject: Landing Questions--Please help!!!!!!!!!
  Hi Guys
I need help for my landing.
I plan to enter via US/Canada boarder by road and return back after few days before I make a final move to canada in next 6 months and I have following questions
1. Can I drive my car from USA into Canada and do the landing and return back? Will there be any documentation which I need to do or pay any money in terms of taxes etc
2.I have valid H1B visa document with I94 but not stamped on my passport. Iintend to return back after landing and I dont want H1B visa stamping as it expires in Dec 06. I am told that you can return back to usa with a valid I94 provded you come back within 30 days .Does anyone have any eal time experience with this.

3.After I land what are the formalities I need to complete there in Canada befoe I return back to usa?
4.Does anyone have experience landing from Detroit/windsor boarder and any tips /cautions/suggestions would be most welcome

I appreciate all your help in this matter in advance

Not a wise idea...and as far as I know... you cannot enter the Us just on the basis of I94 anymore unless you have a valid visa.

As far as the Canadian visa goes...
when you enter Canada (by road) you have to go to the Canadian immigration post and they will check your proof of funds and passport and then validate your visa... for me it just took two minutes... yes just two minutes...

I came to the officer... showed my proof of funds and my passport along with the documents I had received from Buffalo consulate. I went there she stamped my visa and then WELCOME TO CANADA. Well the funny thing was that I came from Toronto to Niagara Falls to get it stamped, so there was no real welcome but anyways thats a different story.

Once you land in Canada, in 30 days you should expect your PR card because the visa is only a single entry visa.

The PR card becomes the official ID to enter Canada.

If you decide to leave Canada before you receive your PR card... you can ask someone to send it to you... (PR card has to come to some address in Canada.) If you cant do that... then you to enter Canada you will have to get a returning resident permit from the consulate, costs like $50 or so, to enter Canada.

Now for the US part... if you dont have the US visa stamped the US immigration officers will really trouble you... you better not go out without a valid visa stamped on your passport. Thats my recommendation...

you should not go by your own car rather take retnal car.Otherwise you have to import your car while landing but put your car with value in goods to follow list.

You can go & come with I-94 with expired visa I´m 100% sure about it.It´s called visa revalidation

if you want you can call (888) 840-0032 and ask question they will charge you around 2-3(USD)

I hope it will help you

best of luck
