Got my medical papers and was told that the interview has been waived...what is the medical test like and how much does it cost in the US?

My timeline:

Applied May 2004
AOR July 2004
---waited forever---
Medical Request March 2006

That was an unusually long wait. Any idea why it took so long for you to get your IA?

they do blood work, chest X-ray, physical exam, eye exam, urine test. DMP (Designated Medical Practioner) will assess if your health "will put too much strain in the Canadian Economy", it means if you have illnesses that can drain money from Canada´s free health insurance. Med results will be directly forwarded to another higher ranking DMP in your area and then to your Immigration officer.

Yeah Candice, I am not sure why the long wait...however, the CIC website does mention that it takes 27 months on average for cases from Buffalo to be processed so I didn´t question it much...

In my state (USA) it´s about 335. Depends upon what state.
I was told that you have to have excellent vision, so make sure your eyes have been recently tested to make sure you don´t need stronger glasses, etc. I heard the blood test is for things like syphillis, HIV, etc. Didn´t they ask you for new finger prints? They expire after a year.

I mean fingerprints done at a local police dept which are sent by you to the FBI (background criminal check). They usually ask for them with the initial application and then ask for a new set of FBI prints when they send your medical papers, since usually they expire. You can request expedited service for the prints. There´s a web site for the FBI which explains. It´s great you got your interview waived as that can add months.
