Subject: Do not leave employment
Hi, I applied for Canadian immigration in Jan 06 and got may AOR few day back. In the letter which Canadian High Commision has sent with the file number. They have mentioned that "DO NOT leave employment.." till the time you get ur PR card. What do they really mean that. How will it effect my application if I keep switching jobs? Regards, Mohit Garg

Nothing to worry dude .. all it means is don´t become jobless till the time you get your visa in your HAND :-)

You can change your job as many times as you want it has got nothing to do with processing of your application

What if you become jobless before you get your PPR. Is that mean they will reject your app?

I took it to mean don´t quit your job in anticipation of moving to Canada

It means... stay in your country and try to be happy with the things you have, application for immigration doesnt mean that it will 100% happen...so just continue your life while waiting...and do not do anything stupid such as leaving your job.... Good luck

Unless you win the lottery, in which case you can apply under the investment class and get in really quick.

Thank you Bob for that insightful contribution.

I think it means keep your job assuming your financial situation depends upon it. I also think it´s ok to quit your job (if you want to and can afford to) since it would not affect your aplication status. This is assuming you have already qulaified with points from work experience years in your SW application. It´s just a friendly way of saying don´t bet your financial well-being on assuming you´ll get a visa and can move to Canada.

MG,

Which Visa office did you apply from. I think this is the first time I have seen such an instruction written in a AOR letter.

Thanks
Ang

it does come in some letters cuz ppl leave their jobs in hopes of immigrating and then their application is rejected.

The main requirement for job experience is that you have over at least 1 year or more than 4 years experience in the last 10 years. You do NOT have to be employed by the time you get your visa. Unless your specific situation requires you to be working in order to come up with the required amount of time if you´re not able to now(?)
