Subject: My landing experience
Finally, I became a permanent resident.

I live in Edmonton. The nearest Canada-USA border is Carway in southern Alberta. Carway border is open between 7 AM and 7 PM on any day of the week. I drove there on Friday and it took me about 5 and half hours. I reached at the border at 3:30 pm. There was absolutely no trafic and I was the only person at that time.

I was a bit scared about the USA officials across the border. But the experience was really pleasant. I did not have to even mention my purpose of visit !!! The officer asked me if I´m there to complete my immigration landing. He took my PP and COPR. Asked me to pull off the car to the parking lot and come inside the office. A lady officer inside the office asked me to sit for a while and offered a cup of coffee. While enjoying my coffee, another officer joined me and we talked a lot about Edmonton. After about half an hour, the lady officer called me and handed me my PP and a white sheet. She also explained me what I should do with the paper when I go to the Canadian side. Before, I say good bye to her she said me ´Happy Landing´. I gave her a big thanks and drove my car back to the Canadian side of the border.

In the Canadian Immigration office (in the first floor), the officer looked at my documents and said that the picture size in my COPR is not appropriate for the PR card. I had an extra photograph with me but was of same size as the one in the COPR. Within no time, he took a picture of mine with his sophisticated digital camera. I signed on the COPR and every thing was done within 15 minutes. Although I have been living in Canada as a student for more than 3 years, he said me ´Welcome to Canada´ and it was very pleasant feeling. He said me that I should receive my PR in about 4 weeks.

He asked me to go to the customs office in the main floor with a yellow piece of paper. I met a lady officer and said that I won´t be bringing any thing from my home country. So, there was no need to fill in the goods to follow list. I said her ´Thank you´ and drove back to Edmonton.:-)

Steve the post above (as if people give a shit to what you say above) really makes you that you really need a mentor to help you .... One thing I cannot understand , when you have silly questions you have your nick but when someone complains about your post , you delete your nick and post a general warning message ....as if we do not not know that message is from another loser called Steve.... Steve people are nopt as .....as you are ....
