Subject: Landing funds
  Hi there,

This is Sameer from UK and I planning to land in Canada in April and return back to UK within one week after completing the landing formalties. My question are_
1. As I will be returing back to UK, will that be sufficient to show my UK bank statements as proof of funds?
2. If not what is the best way to take the money?

The bank statements/passbook should be fine. The other methods are cashiers check, fixed deposit reciepts, provident fund statemnts, securities(shares, debentures, bonds).Do not include property valuations and fixed assets.

The bank statement should be your latest. Sometimes they might ask you to swipe your debit/check card and get a bank balance reciept to verify if you have that amount. Also do carry the cross border currency report form E677 form for conversion purposes if you are showing amount in pounds.

Good luck!

Hi IM,

Thanks for the reply to my post. I will then carry my bank statements with me when I land. By the way, do you know any official documentations that says I can show foreign bank statement, which I can refer to?

Thanks in advance

Sameer

Sameer, you have stumped me with that question. In my passport request form bank statemnts is written as a method to show proof of funds. However in the CIC website that is not the case:

Here is a link to a discussion of a case similar to yours.

Sorry that I was not of much help.

Hi Sameer,

Since you mentioned in the initial email about completing the formalities .. do u mean to say apply for SIN card and obvisouly the PR card. Health card cannot be applied at this time as one needs to stay for atleast 3 months to apply for the same.

BTW where do u plan to land ?

Thanks a lot IM for the Info.

Jura, I just intend to land come back, will have my PR card posted to me by a friend. I do not intend to apply SIN or the Health card at present, do u think it is necessary at the moment?
