How can the CIC finds out how long I have been in canada before the application for the Citizenship? I mean how can they find out that I have spent 3i in 4? How can they make sure that my statement in the application is OK?

Mmmm very very difficult question, let me try to answer this difficult question, I guess they can understand the length of time you stayed in Canada by:
a. checking the number of job advertisements you have applied and the number of refusals you got,
b. they might hire some private detectives to check your friends and family members in Canada,
c. they might ask FBI for help,
d. they might even have a surgery on your brain whether you have any brain or stomach to see if you have swallowed any watches with a calender...
Dude ...where is your brain ? This question is really fucking stupid even for a 3 year old child....

if this question was so stupid Mr/Ms Anonymous then why dont you take a minute and answer him. This is for sure that they dont chek your passports for entry exit records. After the three years you have to get a signature on your appliation for citizenship from either a lawyer, pharmacist or your doctor who somhow authenticate your application for citizenship that he/she knows you. And you have been staying in the country. Without the authentication/verifiation of above mentioned officials, your application for citizenship can not be approved. This is the right answer my friends.

Its up to you to furnish proof. Apart from passport stamps. (Not always possible if you are travelling by car across the border)
Rent receipt, power bill, insurance papers, employee verification letter from canada etc.
In an incident that happened recently a person was refused Citizenship after CIC found out that the person actually lived in Detroit and worked all the time but he tried to maintain status by renting out an apartment in Windsor.
But then again there maybe people who beat the system.

records of employment, pay stubs, T4´s, income tax forms, medical services records and premium payments, bank deposits- lots of ways to verify residency. if you can´t produce them, and you have some holes in your passport, I would think you are out of luck.
