| Subject: Police Certificate for AUS - fingerprinting |

I wish to apply for immigration to canada and need an aussie police certificate. After reading the CIC website I will apply for this before submiting my application. Does anyone know what the procedure is for fingerprinting?? do you send the application off and they contact you about fingerprints?

Barb,
You need to send your fingerprints along with the History Check Application form to the Australian Federal Police.
The easiest way to get your fingerprints processed is to contact your local police station who can typically process you same day. If you live in NSW simply call 131 444 and you will quickly be put in touch with
your local police station, if you do not live in NSW I´m sure there would be an equivalent process.
Once you have the fingerprints simply include the fingerprint panel with the form and photocopy of licence etc as per the instructions at
http://www.afp.gov.au/afp/raw/forms...tory/Crim01.pdf
and mail the application.

In addition to what Glen said above please check Australian Police department by calling them again and again and making sure that they are working on your file ... because I had my fingerprints sent from my own country to AFP and those idiots spent 6 months to complete my check... I can tell you that I called them almost 10 times, sent e mails 20 times and I got my surname misspelt although it is clearly seen on my Driving Licence I got from Australia...they are so lazy and irresponsible...just a friendly warning...I hope you are in Australia and can check your process easily otherwise well just wish you luck ///

I went to a Police station in Melbourne and had my fingerprints taken. I then mailed it to the Australian Fedral Police and got my certificate 3 weeks later. I got mine in Sep 05

i spent 6 years in Australia,four months before i applied for police certificate and still i am waiting for that, now a days i am living in US.
bro if you belong to Asia,Itly, Greece,then forget it, they will take long time.
