Subject: Mexican friend to my house in Canada |

I met a young boy in Mexico who I spent some time with while I was down there for a few months. We became close and he is like my son. He really wants to come and live with me in Canada. I told him I would love to have him here, but he would have to work. What do we need to do to get him to my place? Does he need to apply for a work permit now, or can he apply for work when he gets here and the company fills out the paperwork?
Thanks for any help.
Laurie in Canada.

(in reply to: Mexican friend to my house in Canada) Laurie,
Try looking at CIC website on the few options available:
To work
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/index.html
To immigrate

(in reply to: Mexican friend to my house in Canada) Additional info.:
To work temporarily - you have to prove he can do a job that no Canadian can do. Very difficult to get approval, he will need a special skill or qualification (e.g. unskilled work won´t be accepted).
To immigrate - get him to take the points test, if he scores over 67, apply for PR. Applications to Mexico currently take around a year.
