Subject: Quebec PR timelines / extending visitor visa |

|
A friend of mine from the US has been in Canada for 2 years to be with her partner. I assume she came over without a visa and stayed the 6 months allowed, then applied for successive renewal and extension of the visitor´s visa. She´s not earning any money but she has only just applied for PR last September - as a Quebec skilled worker. She said she was told and hoped her application would be finished by now but the website says it takes between 5 and 13 months.
1) Wouldn´t applying as a common-law partner be much faster (within or outside Canada)?
2) Is 5-13 months an accurate description of how long Quebec skilled worker route takes?
She says the Quebec website´s assessment test said she had enough points to qualify, yet she doesn´t have a degree (stopped after 2 years) and doesn´t speak French.
3) Is she likely to get her PR application rejected as a result?
I just read on this site someone who has stayed as a visitor for 2 years and whose 6th or 7th extension was denied.
4) Do you think this will happen to my friend based on your experience of renewing visitor´s visas and waiting for PR (especially given that she´s applied as a skilled worker and not common-law)?
Thanks for your help. I know quite a bit about immigrating but nothing about coming from the US, applying as a skilled worker and getting visitor´s visas extended multiple times.

QUEBEC PR TIMELINES (in reply to: Quebec PR timelines / extending visitor visa) PLEASE, DID SHE RECIEVE AOR (AKNOWLEDGE OF RECIEPT)? HOW LONG DID IT TAKE HER TO RECIEVE THE AOR FROM THE TIME SHE SUBMITTED HER APPLICATION?
I THINK FRENCH AND WORK EXPERIENCE ARE IMPORTANT FOR APPLYING TO QUEBEC.
I HEARD THAT QUEBEC TRACT IS FASTER. A FRIEND OF MINE TOOK HIM 1.5 YEARS TO HAVE HIS PR CARD.
SORRY I CANT ANSWER YOUR OTHER QUESTIONS? I MYSELF NEED HELP CUZ I JUST APPLIED.

(in reply to: Quebec PR timelines / extending visitor visa) common law partner is fastest way to obtain PR status.
Quebec (from buffalo or montreal office) is fast as well but could be 6 months slower than CLP track
