Subject: Spouse/Common Law Permanent Residency Application
Hello, I am new to this group and would like say hi.

I applied to sponsor my common law fiance for permanent residency. We are both here in Canada. She is here on a visitors visa after she graduated from college. We sent the applications with all the neccessary documentation in May 2005. It is now January 06 and we have not heard a thing. Not even a letter stating that they recieved our application. We check its progress online, it says its in processing. But we havent heard anything...no callback...not letter in the mail...Nothing!.....is this normal?

We are really starting to get worried....is there anybody that can help us?....

Johnny B, have your MP follow up on the case.

You should be fine. They are now issuing out AIP´s for inland applicants as of May 21st I believe is what e-cas says. you should be getting a letter in the next week or two. Relax! they don´t give you ANYTHING until the AIP.

and MP´s rarely will, and can make a difference. it´s rare, but I wouldn´t call em up just yet. Just wait a couple weeks, call the call centre, see if they can give you anything, and request your FOSS notes. it´s free incanada under the privacy act. it will tell you where you´re at as far as processing. takes about 30 days to get, but you´ll prolly have your AIP before then!

basically it´s a computer print out of all the information on your file that agents have put into the computer..

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/form%2Dimm5563.html

go there, the form is at the bottom of the page. check privacy act, and FOSS ONLY and then put in your client ID #. make sure to sign and date it and that you´re requesting it for yourself. It´s free, just mail if off. it´ll prolly take 30 days..give or take a few. but like I said, I´m thinking you´ll have your AIP before then!

goodluck!

I hope so...this process is really driving me nuts...and there seems to be nobody that can give us any re-assurance!! they are crying to increase the population here in this part of Canada but at the same time they make it nearly impossible to coordinate the proper applications and send them off with out the use of a representitive....(lawyer)
any additional info you guys can relay to me would be greatly appreciated!
