Some ideas on a background check:

Buffalo has no control over it. I spoke with my officer there. She said that this is a normak practice and even instructed her assistant to remind those security folks. Despite such "effort" nothing seems to change. BG check still in progress.

Second thought is that they do BG check randomly considering that in my case there is nothing to look into. The same with Big Apple from China. I saw several Chinese people get passport request very quickly. Why his case is so long the?

Thirdly - security people might be assigned for each region and we don´t know how fast this particular security guy is.

Also they might have a lot of confusion with our data. Thus for example the college I graduated from has changed its name since then - so what will be security officer approach then? Trust my data or do what?

The bad thing that they waive an interview and don´t ask clarification directly from us. Moreover we don´t know which agency is doing search and we can´t communicate with them directly to push.

today i received this response

"Your file is ready for finalization. It is currently with the officer for final review. If we do not require any additional information, we will forward a request letter for the submission of your passports."
