Subject: Suffering long delayed background check
I am suffering a long delay in my background check. I finished my medical exam under Buffalo´s request in Oct, 2004. Untill now, my background check is still pending ... according to Buffalo´s email answer.

Is there some agency I can appeal to to expedite my background check? Or has anyone in a similiar situation been succeful using an atorney to move their application forward?

Using a lawyer will not help you in any way. You will just end up loosing your money for nothing.

which country are u from? You can get an advice if we know where are u from. Secondly how do you know its your background check? Did they tell you? Send them an e-mail and request an update on your file?

I am Chinese. I am now in USA and applied from Buffalo. Buffalo told me that they had issued background check back to Oct. 2004. I finished the medical exam under their request Oct. 2004.

They told me everything is fine, just background is still pending. Every time I got the same kind answer "another 6-9 months".

we are in the same boat (in reply to: Suffering long delayed background check)
big apple, did buffalo give you the 6-to-9 month window in their fax, letter or email response? I didn´t know their email ever mention such time frame. Also, did they tell you or you figure out somehow from CAIPS yourself that everything else is fine and that they started your background check in Oct 2004? Hang in there. You are not alone.

From my CAIPs of Oct, 2005, I know I passed the mark, my education background check is OK. The University of USA answered Bufallo very quickly. My interview was waivered.
Medical exam is OK. Bufallo gave me 6 months of medical extension.

Yes, every time Bufallo told me another 6-9 months since Dec. of 2004. This week I asked Bufallo again, it is still the same kind of answer "another 6-9 months", background is still pending. Sine they have requested some information from other government office(s), before they get that they can not give me an answer about my status.

My question is "does anybody know whether an attoney helps?" I filed my application by myself, because I thought it was quite easy to prepare all the documents and Buffalo is quit OK with my documents.

I didn´t have any relationship with military services or served for the government in my own country. I don´t know what can cause Buffalo so long time to check my background. I have been in USA for 5 years, maintain very good record.

I have 2 such letters already - saying 6-9 months they need for background check. It started on Jan 2005. Interview was waived, bio is clear, no military or similar things exist. Lived only at 3 addresses, last 14 years in the U.S. I am from Europe where it should be esy to obtain any verifications. I am also puzzled where to appeal, complain about that. Anyone has an advice?

BigApple, Goblin and all y´all who are waiting!
I have the similar situation and I seem to have pretty much "clean" bio and NOTHING to look at in it from my point of view. The thing is that My point of View is not the one of CHECKING agencies.
I don´t know where you can appeal, Guys - I´d say nowhere:(
Just keep waiting and pack some MORE patience.

Goodluck
