Can you please ask this to Mr Bush and the prime minister of Canada I am sure they will give you some advice... If you ask me India is the best place at least the nature is beautiful there and business is going to be better...Oh sorry I forgot Cuba is also a great country to immigrate...Great people...great cigars...

Rainman:
This is a ver broad topic to discuss in this forum, not to say that your question is very subjective. There is never a straight answer to such questions. I´ll try a few:
US: Too many people Canada: Just a few
US: Conservative Canada: Liberal
US: Expensive Canada: Relatively cheap
US: Bad health care Canada: Everyone gets one for almost free
US: High crime rate Canada: relatively low crime
US: More career oppotrunities Canada: Some prov.´s are better than the other
US: Life is fast and stressful Canada: Life is relatively slow and peaceful

One can keep going with these comparisions, but the bottom line is what do you want? Remember there never are free-lunches any where in the world. If you have to requalify to get a job here, then you will have to. Its just unfortunate that your career is in a field that deals with health of humans, hence the caution.

Good luck. Hope you can make-up your mind

Guys
I agree with Silly that this question is very subjective. I have the opportunity to work in USA, Canada, Europe and the Middle East. I am originally from India and currently in Canada for the past 21/2 years. The following is my oppinion about Canada:-

1. Health Care - most crap health care system in the developed nations. The avearge wait period for non life threatening situations is min. 3 months. Emergency situations - 8 - 12 hours.
2. Tax: Direct taxation is approx. 50% (this includes Fedral Tax, Provincial Tax, Pensions, Social Security etc.) The take home salary is approx. 50% of your gross income.
3. Indirect tax: Goods and Services Tax (or Sales Tax) ; 15.5%. By the way, this is payable even on funeral services. (I suffered this pain few months back due to the sudden sickness and death of my mother). The cremation only costed me $5,000.
4. The current Leberal Govt. is facing lot of corruption charges inclding under hand money transfers.
5. Social Life: This is a country of single parents. The childern are under extreme social pressure due to the seperation of their parents.
6. The country is also facing the problem of seperatism. The province of Quebec (the largest province in Canada)wants independence from Canada.
7. Education: I am personally not happy with the standard of education. I have two kids - one in high school and other in elementary. They were average students in India but are toppers in Canada. (Not because of better education but because of easier levels)

To the last individual who replied, you should be glad that the earlier response was a fact and that the people in the forum are made known of it.

Please do not be put off by such criticism. Thanks for taking the time.
