Hi Red:

I was nominated through Alberta PNP program, and I had pretty much the same timeline as yours, but for the PPR date. I rec´ved my PPR on Jan 5th.

Say Red, what are your plans to do the landing ritual? Do you plan to go upto the border and then turn back or do you have any other plans?

I think I will ask local CIC office people if I can land at Winnipeg airport. If not I will just drive to the border. Here is Winnipeg, it is just 40 minuts drive to the nearst border town.
Not sure which city you are in. I think you can do the same.
Any idea?

Interesting...I wasn´t aware that one could go to the airport and then do the landing at the immigration counter (office) there.

I was planning on driving upto the border and do the landing, although I like this idea of trying at the airport, since it is only 10 clicks away, while I would have to drive about 350 clicks to the border.

Could you keep us posted on your conversations with CIC´s regarding this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi please check the airport in your area in Alberta about if they offer full immigraiton service at the border.
Here is the link. And you can also call the toll number about your inquiry.

landing (in reply to: Manitoba PNP)
Just called the CIC and Border Services about landing. They said that we have to leave canada physically which means we have to cross the border.
The airport does offer immigration services but it is only a port of entry instead of border.
Anyways different government dept. has different answers for this issue. I am quite used to this crappy bureaucratic country already.

Thanks for the info. Red!

I think, it is better to just go across to US by land and turn back around.
