whenever i hear background check i always wonder what the cic check on and how do they proceed. do they check people education, police clearance. please give me an idea what they go look for as background check. do they send people school transcripts to their school to verify if they are fake. what do they do.

Its really a mistery and I think no one knows what CIC does we can only guess but actually only CIC or God knows..

first off the application form is pretty detailed, alot of information is to be put in for the last 10 or so years. There is nothing to be curious about. All what you have put on the form can be checked for verification. And of course they can pick whatever they feel doubts on. Just fill out everything correctly and honestly and rest don´t worry about anything. Processing wait is what no one has controll on. Everyone is keeping their fingers crossed.

There are 2 separate checks -
1. Background check - verification of education and experience credentials when employers and schools may be contacted to verify authenticity of documents and truthfulness of your claims. If particular claim cannot be conclusively verified then it won?t be counted.
and
2. Background/Security check - conducted completely outside of immigration by Canadian intelligence and security agencies with or without cooperation of proper authorities in countries you lived in to find out if you are or were involved in and/or associated with someone who is or was involved in activities like terrorism, espionage, organized crime, radical movements, crimes against humanity, etc.
