Subject: File Transfer
  Dear Members,
Pls advice on the following:

I´m in Canada on a work permit. I had filed my PR app about 16 months
back in Singapore.
Is there any way by which i can get my file transferred to Canada or
nearby... to Buffalo? or it has to be processed in Singapore itself.

Does that mean that If i get an interview request, I will have to go
all the way back to Singapore to appear for Interview ? or is there any
better solution to this.

Thanks for your advice in advance.
Regards,
- Ashish.

Ashish,

Leave your file where it is. Since you are on work permit, your file will be transferred to Buffalo. They treat that as "new" application and you will go to the bottom of the chain. Cases in Buffalo are taking between 24-36 months.

Look at timeline of cases in Singapore - they are bound to be shorter than that. It makes sense to fly to Singapore when asked to supply passport then transfer file to Buffalo.

Best of Luck!

Thanks, But singapore is also very-very slow.. it takes like 4 yrs for the file to get processed there..

I thought that in Buffalo it takes like 20 some months for processing...
Its already been 16 months now since filing in singapore, and I´m trying to get the CAIPS info to see whats the BF´D date like..

But i want to know, Is it in the first place, possible to get the file transferred to BUFFALO or IN CANADA or it isn´t ?

What do you suggest ?
- Ashish.

Hi Ashish,

Skilled worker immigration applications are not processed in Canada. Skilled worker immigration application for people living in Canada has to be submitted in Buffalo, USA. At present the processing time in Buffalo is 18 to 36 months and in Singapore its 36 to 49 months.

Under the new Immigration & Refugee Protection Act (IRPA), which came into force on June 28, 2002, there is no longer a provision for file transfer. However it is upto the immigration official to decide if the file transfer will enhance the integrity of your case.
