Subject: can we trust "early 2006"?
i´m one of those who got "early 2006" relpy. my question is when is early 2006 ? given the way canadian government people work, i do not think it would be jan 2006 or anything like that. if they say it would take "3-4" days, u should be ready to wait at leat 3 weeks or more. "early 2006" means also it could be june 30 2006. or it could delay even more depending on their situation. at least, i´d be happy if i get ppr before the july of 2006.

i still remember what they say in my IA, "we reserve the right to ask for interview at any time." u never know what u´ll see when u open an yellow envelop from buffalo expecting it must be a PPR.

In general business circles early 2006 means sometime before March 31.

I highly doubt that every single PP request will go out Jan 1. they will do the first in first out scenario- or at least that seems the reasonable route.

I have never seen CIC make concrete promises about time. way too many aspects of the process that are outside their control.

Can we trust them to act promptly? No, that is already obvious. They have made us wait longer than we expected already.

But do we have a choice? At this point we have paid thousands of dollars, put our lives on hold, and planned a move to Canada. Selecting another country would necessitate a lot of work and another long wait.

So basically, CIC has us over a barrel and there is nothing we can do but wait until the issue the pprs.

It is fairly obvious they do not see us as people, but rather as some kind of commodity that can be pulled off the shelf when it is convenient for them.

where in any CIC website does it guarantee how long your application will take? all I read is - "The length of time it takes to finalize applications may be different at different visa offices. Past processing times may not indicate the length of time it will take to finalize applications in the future."

$550 + $975 dollars is not thousands. It is $1,525. It is less than a Canadian pays for a year of car insurance!

yes, you are trapped in a system that you either accept or you can walk away minus $550. It is the only legal way in to the country. You can get your ROLF back if you have not received your PP request. You are absolutely free to do so. The $550 you are out of pocket does not even buy you a weeks vacation in Mexico.

Commodity? I won´t even go there.

If Canada is so rude and so terrible... don´t come. Please. save yourself from such a horrible experience.

Tim, sorry I have dumped on you. I have been listening to people whinning all week about a variety of subjects.

The only solution we have is a one year system. CIC only allows 1 year worth of applicants in the system at a time. once it is full... you try again the following year. CIC could offer the best case scenario for approval time (within CIC´s control) and it could go on from there.

what that would do is put the wait times back in the lap of the applicant and the home country. If you have missed documents or require an interview - it adds to your wait. If your home county is slow in verifying background materials - it is not CIC´s fault.

I agree that the wait is too long for most folks. the only way to avoid it is to shut the door. I guess people have a choice, do the annual dash to get your name in, or put your name on the list and wait until you make it to the top of the list.

both ideas have their drawbacks.

Sharon: I have seen your postings go from helpful to bitter and critical. Perhaps you are frustrated with the system as well--but why take it out on people who are experiencing the same thing?

It is natural that people caught up in a system who have no control and are provided with little information will complain about it. You are already a Canadian, but perhaps you could have a little empathy instead of doing a knee-jerk defense of how CIC treats us. Are you still waiting for your honey to come to Canada, or has your situation changed?

I hope things get better for you. Best of luck, Sharon.

still waiting for my guy.

I did attempt to apologize. I am frustrated with the system and I am often frustrated with people who insist on putting CIC into a box. 245,000 applicants simply will not fit into a neat and tidy box and any attempt to ´figure it out´ is such a total waste of time.

Apology accepted. But it is human nature to speculate and to try to puzzle out our condition (probably the reason for religion, but that is another topic). The forum is for information and support for those in the immigration process. I remain convinced that frustration is a valid feeling and that we should try to support each other rather than suggest finding somewhere else to go. My opinion only, for what it is worth.

I hope your friend makes it through the process soon.
