Regarding your friends TB it could have been latent/inactive TB ... the so called "sleeping TB" , basically he is a carrier. He will have no symptoms and usually wont spread it also. It can remain "sleeping" for an entire life time unless trigerred to become active by conditions like HIV etc that lowers the body´s immunity.

Unforunately for your friend, his positive skin test could have been because of the BCG vaccine at childhood(if from Asia, eastern europe) Nowadays even if he had a normal chest X-ray they would classify it as inactive TB in the USA because of current regulations on the reliability of the BCG vaccine. If you are from part of the world where TB is common then they consider you exposed. Earlier they wouldn´t put international students on treatment if chest x-rays were normal.

You are right, that is why they did not quarantine him and gave treatment (meds. upto 9 months) for inactive TB. Inactive TB, will not prevent him from entering canada, they might only put him under surveillance.

Now, about not telling your DMP about the inactive TB diagnosis, that raises an ethical issue :). Since he is already undergoing treatment for inactive TB I dont see why Canada should have a problem.

I agree with doughnuts.
Just inform your DMP that you were a TB patient in the past and recieved full treatment. Even if he finds old calcifications in chest X-ray he would understand the cause. If he still have doubts he ll go for sputum test. If the sputum test is negative you have no problems.

Good luck

I am also thinking to tell them all the history and that I had treatment. My concern about ´diplomacy´ is that they might ask to take the drugs..and then I have to tell them I already went through treatment..
Looks like this might be a dream crasher for me

Dear noodles,
If you have already completed 9 months treatment for TB and your sputum is negative. Only a stupid doctor would advice you to take the treatment again. and I dont think DMPs are that stupid. There is nothing to hide, just tell him all the history if he tells you that there is a problem in your case. Otherwise I dont see any serious medical problem in your case.
Good luck just relax and dont hide anything on the name of diplomacy. be truthful

Good luck

Just tell him about your history if he informs you that there is a problem in your chest x-ray. If everything is clear you are fine

My partner had treatment in the US, completed the course of medication and received some kind of card showing this.

He showed it in the medical exam. CAIPS notes show that he is M01 (no problems).

So if treatment is completed, it should be no impediment.
