Subject: I am a PR of Canada. I am married to a Canadi...
I am a PR of Canada. I am married to a Canadian Citizen and we have stayed outside of Canada for over 3 years (accompanying a Canadian citizen spouse) and we have several Canadian citizen children. Under the residency requirements I am okay because there is an exemption if you are aboard acompanying a Canadian citizen spouse. I do not know how that relates to the residence requirement for citizenship application? It should not atter or should it. Seems like 2 different residence statutes. Help anyone? Thanks in advance.

As far a maintaining your PR status of Canada is concerned you are fine.

But to become a Canadian citizen you MUST have been living in Canada for at least three of the last four years.

I was curious about this as well for my wife in future.
That´s pretty clear.
Thanks again Kenny.

PR with Citizen (in reply to: I am a PR of Canada. I am married to a Canadi...)
I am a Citizen, and my Wife from Mexico is just waiting for the PR card to arrive in the mail.

We have residences in other countries, and plan to get away from this cold and damp as soon as possible.

I also understand that as long as She is with me, regardless of whether I am working or not, She will not lose Her PR status
